After more than a year of primping and preening, the Battlefield 2 1.50 patch is actually going to see the light of day. There have been three betas released to varying degrees of success but DICE is comfortable with the results and will release the patch on September 1st.In addition to the new map - Operation Blue Pearl - the patch now makes Highway Tampa a mandatory install and also frees up two of the expansion packs. That means you'll be able to play Armored Fury and Euroforce maps for free. What you won't get though is Special Forces which is too bad because that's the only expansion pack worth your time. So, we get new maps, widescreen support, more RAM support and a couple of other updates. I hope this helps breath some life into BF2 for a little while because the only PC FPS game coming up that you'll want to play online isn't being released until November 10th (MW2).
