Following from the rather excellent teaser trailer from a few months back, prepare yourself for the full release of Beyond Black Mesa. BBM is a short Independent fan film Inspired by the Half-Life Video Game series centering around Adrian Shephard and a band of resistance fighters struggling to get out a warning about the impending invasion.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOrH5tfWorg

Independent short film – 2 years in the making – Endless hours of post

1 Canon HV20

7 Friends

$1,200 budget for the full short film.

This film is not HL,HL2 or Opposing Forces. It’s a short fan film that takes place in the Half-Life world. Also, as a completely independent film, we wanted to have a creative voice in the movie and make it a movie that we would enjoy shooting. We took artistic freedoms and liberties, unfortunately most of those decisions were determined by our limited resources.

HL2DM:Pro becomes the spiritual successor to the highly popular multiplayer Adrenalin Gamer mod for the original Half Life:

AG2 v1.0 Released

Today is a great day as AG2 is officially available. You can download the full installer and/or zip file in the download.
AG2 includes some very advanced features. It matches not only the players who wish to play a fast paced game but also all the players who do enjoy the Regular version from VALVe.

This mod does include both regular and a fast paced mode for the sake of everyone’s pleasure. AG2 is bug free which also means that the bugs that are in the original regular HL2DM from VALVe have all been fixed. As you all know, AG2 also brings a lot of advanced features for managing matches as well as servers and also includes many game mods.
Well, we count on you

A little bit of dissapointing news from Black Mesa project leader cman2k. I can’t blame the team for pushing back the most anticipated mods of all time, they are following in Valves footsteps after all.

Hello Black Mesa fans!

We come to you once again with an update. It’s now the end of 2009, and we know many of you have literally counted the days down until this fateful month. We are floored by the level of support you have given us and are very excited we’re so close to reaching our goal.

Unfortunately, to our great disappointment, Black Mesa will not make a 2009 release.

Cynics may now rejoice, bets may be collected, and I think a mod team member has to eat his shoe, but we hope our loyal fans will forgive us and realize that the delay will translate into a better final product that’s (hopefully) more easily available to everyone.

Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn’t quite make it, we have come very close, and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We’ll be sure and update if anything changes. Until then, hang tight, it’s coming!

You may remember the recent Fly Gabe Newell stunt, Byteside blog was there and has the video on the Gabe Newell and Joe meeting. Gabe talks about the strength of PC gaming and praises the gaming and modding community in general.

Gabe spoke the value of a community before introducing Joe. Said Gabe, of Joe: “Joe understands more about the dynamic of the internet than 95% of the vice presidents.”

Joe then bravely spoke a bit about how it all came about and fielded a few questions. We are thrilled to report that Joe’s a top bloke. He launched this campaign not to draw attention to himself but to simply get Gabe in front of his mod. That’s all. The explosion of interest in his story has him overwhelmed, but not to the point where he lost focus of his mission.

Steam hasn’t died! Just some scheduled downtime taking place. If you are in OZ, you will probably be asleep or at work anyway unless you are completing a marathon gaming session.

Beginning at 6:00 pm Pacific time Thursday August 6th, we will be performing software maintenance on some Steam servers. We expect the resulting downtime to last three hours at most, putting the end of the window at 9:00 pm Pacific time.

Some Steam services will be offline during this time. Affected services will include the Steam Community, in-game matchmaking or lobbies, downloading games from Steam content servers, and making purchases from the Steam store. Games that do not rely on Steam matchmaking services should remain playable.

The anticipated NEOTOKYO mod has been released today and the website has been getting a decent hammering! NEOTOKYO° is a first person shooter that aims to provide a visceral & realistic combat experience in a rich futuristic setting.

Background Story and World:

NEOTOKYO° takes place in and around a fictionalized Tokyo approximately 30 years in the future. Mankind has begun to fuse with technology. Government and corporate corruption have transformed Tokyo into a deadly dystopian nightmare. After a near-successful military coup by ranking members of Jinrai, the National Security Force (NSF) is formed – answering directly to the Prime Minister, it’s mission is to investigate and eliminate all threats to Japan, both abroad and at home. The initial core of the NSF is made from an exodus from within the intelligence branch of the military. With this betrayal begins the war in the shadows between the NSF and Jinrai.

Welcome to NEOTOKYO
